City/town information

The capital of Orkney and at the centre of the islands, Kirkwall is a busy and thriving town of around 6000 people. It has a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants and The Captain's House is right in the middle. The town is at least 1000 years old and this Georgian house stands in the area of the original Viking Settlement, just across from the remains of the 12th century St Olaf's Church and a short walk from St Magnus Cathedral.
