True Confessions: I met the band leader in the whirlpool at the YMCA seven years ago and accepted his offer to buy me a beer if I showed up that night, Thursday, since his band was playing. All these years since, my wife and I have been "regulars." The band cooks, you'll know the songs and want to dance. And we know the bartenders by first name.

The Ohio Statehouse was built in the middle of the 19th century and is where Senators and Representatives meet today to pass state laws. The Senate is on the north side of the Rotunda and the House of Representatives is on the south side. I worked there twice, the first time as an aide to an Ohio Senator, the second time was as a staff reporter covering all of state government but especially the legislature. Historic paintings, a museum devoted to candidates, parties and politics, and a sales shop full of Ohio-themed stuff, so buy your Ohio flag here, it's the only pennant shaped flag of the 50 states. Parking is available and from Gahanna to the city center its 12 minutes without delays.

Parks & Nature
Growing Gahanna, a suburb of Columbus where we life, has over 750 acres of parkland, the most per capita of any other Columbus suburb. In minutes you can be on a hiking or bike trail if that's your mission. The Big Walnut Creek flows through Gahanna and is joined by Sycamore and Rocky Fork creeks. Gahanna was an indigenous Indian word meaning the confluence of three creeks into one.
