From the house you can join the Taff trail and join the nature reserve walk. The walk joins back up with Cyfarthfa Park if you go the right way. Keep your eye out for the old tram route from the limestone quarries of Vaynor.

The Taff trail runs from Brecon to Cardiff and follows the old railway route. It passes 50 yards from Ty Bach and can be joined in either direction. It is a lovely walk or cycle 🙂

If you are keen to learn more about the history of the valleys then Big Pit is a must visit. It is a national museum and free to visit (booking required). You get to go into a former working coal mine and see what it was like for those who worked there.

Follow the Taff trail to enjoy great views from Pontsarn Viaduct. If you head to the Aberglais inn and then follow the road down you end up at the Blue Pools which you can swim and relax in. Don't be afraid to ask a local for guidance if you get lost!
