Sightseeing

It's a must do experience when in Bergen. The panoramic view from the top is spectacular. Choose between the cable car (expect long queue on sunny days) or take the stairs that starts from Montana (recommend taking buss number 12 from city centre since it can be difficult to find parking in the area). The hike up is an experience it itself. It can be a bit challenging to climb the 1300 steps first time, but if you take it slowly and drink some water as you go, you can do it :) For more information see Visit Bergen website: https://en.visitbergen.com/things-to-do/_ga=2.1405937.1198267173.1655801047-1522878800.1655801046

Fløyen is an institution. Very popular among tourists as well as locals - easy access from city centre, either by foot or by the newly upgraded funicular. If you buy tickets via the app “Fløibanen” you save time in the ticket line. https://en.visitbergen.com/things-to-do/floibanen-funicular-p822813

Daytrips around Bergen

Austevoll is an island south of Bergen, where you can enjoy beautiful scenery, peaceful bays and excellent food | Modalen is a small village at the end of the Osterfjord, one and a half hours north of Bergen. With about 400 inhabitants, Modalen is Norway’s second smallest municipality. | Norheimsund is a cosy village about an hour from Bergen - starting point for the Hardangerfjord sightseeing experiences. For more tips, check out Visit Bergen's website and search for "things-to-do/day-trips" and "Day trips by car from Bergen"
Austevoll is an island south of Bergen that you get to by taking the ferry from Krokeide. At the south of the island, you can enjoy the best burgers in Norway (officially rated) at http://www.smakerietburgerbar.no/ For more fine dining try Bekkjarvik Gjestegiveri where the kitchen is run by Ørjan Johannessen, winner of Bocuse d'Or in 2015. For more details about how to get there, see: https://www.bekkjarvikgjestgiveri.no/how-to-get-here/?lang=en There are several beautiful spots to check out around Austevoll, some of them are described in this article (in Norwegian only, but pictures speak for themselves) https://www.barnibyen.no/bergen/aktuelt/sommerhoest-2022/kortreiste-ferieopplevelser/ I am happy to translate and give driving directions for my Airbnb guests on request 😊

It's Norway in a nutshell by car: make a roundtrip around Osterøy. Drive from Bergen towards Voss (E16) and take to the left after you have passed Dale. Among other things you will drive pass the stone age settlement place "Skipshelleren". See driving directions and map here: https://en.visitbergen.com/things-to-do/day-trips/10-best-road-trips-from-bergen/road-trip-from-Bergen-along-the-banks-of-the-osterfjord

About an hour’s drive from Bergen you find Steindalsfossen (in Nordheimsund). It’s easy to park nearby and you can literally walk behind the waterfall (bring a raincoat if you don’t want to get wet) About 5 kilometres further - in Øystese - you can try and buy local produced cider from Spildegarden

This is about 1,5 hour drive from Bergen, a few kilometers outside Voss. The place is spetctacular. Conditions for swimming depends on the stream in the river and level of water. For sightseeing and pictures it is awesome anyway. Check out #raundalselva on Insta for inspiration
