Plenty of Breweries in the area. Only motioned ones we've been to or recommended by friends....
Has 2 locations with completely different atmosphere. Amherst is located in an old furniture factory. Small, laid back locals feel. Ellsworth location is small, with a British Pub theme and is the location we dined at when we decided to purchase our Maine home. Both locations have a nice selection of local inhouse brews....and are open year round.

Favorite Lobster to go spot
Best place to get lobster steamed to bring home. Call ahead, give them a pickup time and they will have them hot and ready for you. Pick them up on the way back from Acadia. They will even package them to keep warm for hours if you request. Best prices in town also.....

Other than Acadia Hiking
If you prefer to avoid the crowds of Acadia, these are the hikes for you....
For the day you want to stay close to the apartment and avoid crowds. Eagle Bluff is a great short moderate hike minutes from the apartment. It's is a approximately a half mile walk straight up to the top of a granite bluff. View at the top is worth the hike. Great spot for a picnic at the top. Half mile down hill back makes a 1 mile trip. There is a side trail to the bluff face is well worth the trip. You may see rock climbers on this part of the hike.
After the hike stop at the Strawhouse Bake Shop for a treat!

The Carriage roads of Acadia is another way to enjoy the park. Closed to motorized vehicles but open to bikers, hikers, and horses. There is an extensive carriage road trail system. Consider renting bikes or a horse riding tour. There are several bike rental shops in Bar Harbor area and horse riding tours available online.
Witch Hole Pond Carriage Road
The Carriage roads of Acadia is another way to enjoy the park. Closed to motorized vehicles but open to bikers, hikers, and horses. There is an extensive carriage road trail system. Consider renting bikes or a horse riding tour. There are several bike rental shops in Bar Harbor area and horse riding tours available online.
Had a great experience with this group. Small boat out of Steuben. We saw puffins and seals up close. Pick your best weather day and enjoy!

If you have your passport....take a 2 hour drive to Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada. The island has Campobello park which is where the Roosevelt family had a summer "cottage". There is also hikes and scenic driving on the island....
