A good example of what happened when folks from all over the U.S. moved to beautiful mountain towns. Amazing Italian place started by a few friends from NY.
It's on Main St in Livingston so make a day or night of it.

Word class skiing and boarding on Lone Mountain. It's a 2 hour drive each way, so not really well suited to daily trips, but a good option if you're looking for something further afield.

There are accesses all up and down the Yellowstone. This one is on the other side of the river but is really picturesque, with islands and rock beds and views all around.

Whereas Chico has the old-world charm and attached bar and hotel, Yellowstone Hot Springs has better views, a more relaxed vibe and a moderately bigger outdoor pool area with more thermal variety. Both are great!

In our opinion, the "thermal" highlight of Yellowstone -- even better than Old Faithful. It's on the way, so make sure to stop and walk along the boardwalks!

Livingston, where cowboys and artist's meet. While Bozeman has become emblematic of a "new Montana" that's more metropolitan, Livingston still has more of the classic Montana feel. Try the Maple "Cloud" coffee at Tru North, have lunch at Campione or stroll through Out of the Blue Antiques.

Getting around
Montana gets a lot of snow, any time from September to June is possible, so you'll be more comfortable in an all wheel drive. That said, the roads are generally well ploughed.
There is about 0.5 miles of hard pack dirt on approach to the house.

The Church Universal Triumphant
Google the "Church Universal Triumphant". It's a church with headquarters nearby just out of Gardiner with an interesting set of beliefs and a prophet who predicted the end of the world in 2000 which led to adherents building bomb shelters all over the valley. If you keep an eye out you'll see air intakes sticking out.
