Sightseeing

You can walk here from the flat. The scenery is breathtaking and you can walk down some concrete steps to a small cove from where you can go on a ride on a small boat to visit the grottos. If the sea is rough, you can choose instead just to take in the views and walk along the boardwalk. From one side of it you can see the sunrise and from the other, the sunset. Blissful!

Stunning beach and probably the most photographed one in Lagos thanks to the nearly 200 wooden steps that lead from the top of the cliff to the beach. You can stop here either on the way to or from Ponta da Piedade. For a memorable gastronomic experience, get a table at the restaurant at the top of the cliff, by the same name.

This is one of my favourite beaches in Lagos. A bit of a walk from my flat, but well worth it - especially on windy days, as it's sheltered from most winds. Unlike other beaches surrounded by rocks in Lagos, this one faces South (the others are East-facing), so you can enjoy the sun all day. You can walk over the cliffs from here to Praia da Luz, the next village heading 5kmWest. The scenery is stunning and once you get to Praia da Luz, the beach is beautiful and their restaurant offer plentiful. This is a great walk for early morning or when it's not too hot and be sure to wear good walking/hiking shoes. Rather than walk back, take a taxi/uber or a bus.

Food scene

A staple with many locals, Prato Cheio means "Full Plate" - the servings are very large and the food excellent, mostly of typical Portuguese food. Great at lunch or dinner, affordable, off the tourist track and, best of all, a 2 min walk away from the flat!

Located at the Marina, Artesão is one of my favourite cafés/bars. From brunches or light lunches to Tea or a G&T, it's a great spot to watch the comings and goings at the Marina and the people who work on the boats or go out to sea. It's more sophisticated than its neighbours on the main level of the Marina with nice ambient music. Go in the morning if you want shade or evening if you want sun.

Australian-styled coffee house offering different blends of coffee and with a mouth-watering breakfast/brunch/lunch menu. You can also buy coffee beans to enjoy at home. There's often a queue but they have a counter ideal for solo goers where you get to face the window.
