Love their steamed oysters--we don't mind shucking--and breaded wings (medium sauce). Friendly bartenders. It's a small place and can have a wait, but worth it.

Really good Mexican food. Margaritas are great too. There's a separate bar in back for waiting. Usually fast service. Many like it for take-out, but we always eat in, sometimes on the balcony overlooking the street.

Glazed donuts that are really scrumptious! Should be only about a dollar each. Wait in line sometimes, or avoid the line by eating them inside the small diner-like open air room.

Local ingredients and seafood used to create amazingly delicious Caribbean flare dishes. Casual but intimate. Good for up to groups of four, and you make reservations by going to the website cbsaltfish.com and requesting a day and time. Diablo shrimp, fish of the day, and Saigon Style Noodles recommended as some of our faves.

Supposedly a number one dive bar, and it is pretty original. Walk straight back into the "cool" refrigerator to pick out what you want, then the bartender will open it for you as you pay (credit card for over $10 only). Explore. The building and grounds are a hodge-podge of memorabilia, fun decor, signs, and lights. The floor is sand, mostly. Outside in their fenced area you will find nooks for sitting, chatting and sipping, or play a game of corn hole.

Maybe Bring Cash before Heading to the Sand
Bring a few dollars in case you want to buy a cold treat from the guy with the Italian Ice cart, usually on weekends or around holidays. Also, you might decide to walk to the coffee shop two blocks away for something to eat or drink.

Walking on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk is Wonderful
The Carolina Beach Boardwalk is a long, wide, wooden walkway that borders the sand in town. It is lighted, and has occasional seats for resting. From it, you can see the water, and also see restaurants, shops, and bars inland. Among other places near the boardwalk are ice cream shops, a fudge shop, a pizza shop, a donut shop, a wine and coffee bar, rentals, and an arcade. It is only .8 mile away from Ocean Oasis and you can also get there by walking along the beach.
