The Mound House is a historical home turned museum. It sits
atop an archaeological site, known as the Estero Island Site,
which was excavated in the early 2000s. The mound itself is a midden, meaning it is made up of discarded items,
and was purposely piled up by the Calusa Indians starting roughly 2000 years ago. Archaeologists study the
materials found in the mound to gain insight and understanding about the Calusa people, how they lived, and
their culture.

This one is tough for me as I think it’s a tourist trap. But it is a MUST visit at least once. The decoration inside is very wild. Like a circus exploded with all kinds of things on the walls and little trains going along a shelf from room to room. My wife likes the place and enjoys going. Even if the food is nothing great. Stick to basic dishes and you should be fine. It's always packed whenever we go.
