Sightseeing

This National Park was why we wanted to move to Utah so it holds a special place in our hearts. First visting on our Honeymoon 10 years ago, who knew we would end up building our business and home on the same road we took a backpacking trip. The Needles district is named for the Cedar Mesa sandstone spires that jut up from the landscape. Located in the southwest section of Canyonlands National Park, this district is well-known for its natural formations, extensive interconnecting trail system, and more than 50 miles of rugged roads. You will find some of the areas best hiking trails and 4x4 trails through here. This district of Canyonlands (there are 3) is not very well traveled. It is not a "drive through" park so it does get less vistors per year than it's more known district, Island in the Sky (Moab). You don't want to miss this National Park. Find solitude, no crowds, unique scenery and less traveled by visiting The Needles. Recommended hikes: Druid Arches. 11 miles. Moderate. Out and Back Chesler Park Loop. 11 miles. Moderate. Loop Druid Arch to Chesler Park Loop. 14 miles. Moderate. Loop Confluence Overlook. 10 miles. Out and Back Squaw Flat to Big Spring Loop. 7.8 miles. Moderate. Loop

While you can see amazing sunsets at the glampground, it is worth the 25 minute drive to The Needles Overlook. You will drive to the edge of a 1,000 foot cliff to sweeping views of the desert floor. There is a very easy and nice walkway path all along the rim with benches. It is a very lightly visited area so you may have it all to yourself.
