hiking, kayaking, canoeing. At the intersection of the Suwannee and Withlacoochee rivers, patches of rain lilies spring up on earthen mounds built to defend against Union Navy gunboats.
This park is alive with history. Visitors can see remnants of a 19th-century steamship and two ghost towns that have been reclaimed by the sandhill wilderness, which is home to diverse and imperiled native species.
Look out over the river or stop by Little Gem Spring, and you are treading on storied ground.

beautiful blue spring, diving platform, right on the suwannee river. The large spring boil is popular spot for swimmers and divers. There are four overlook decks located around the spring and river’s edge as well as many picnic tables and open grassy areas to play. Staring over the lip of this impressive spring, it feels like you’re looking into a bottomless pit.
Steep and broad, it drops 42 feet, which is why Suwannee County provides a high launch platform for jumping into the spring.
Wrapped in ribbons of turquoise and blue, it’s a wild place, the natural shoreline accented only with a few staircases to help you get to the water’s edge.
Royal Springs is a beauty, a rare natural swimming hole off the beaten path along the Suwannee River.

close to kokomo.Charles Springs is perhaps one of the more historically significant springs in our area of North FL. Rumored to have been a river crossing point by Spanish Conquistadors in the 1700s – there was also a Spanish Mission and later a family ran a Ferry and trading outpost in the area. Ruben and Rebecca Charles operated the trading post, and were some of the first folks to trade with the native Indians in the area in the early 1800s. Today, Charles Springs is a bit off the beaten trail – but it provides a nice tree canopied setting, a concreted boat ramp, and one of the best views from the spring run into the Suwannee River you’ll find. There are also various walking trails, and a picnic table overlooking the bank of the Suwannee River as well.

Beautiful swimming spring on the Suwannee River. The spring run is approximately 150 feet long with a cave system that is more than 1,200 feet long. The 125 acres allow for nature walks and a wide variety of wildlife including deer, squirrel and numerous birds. The Suwannee River Water Management District recently renovated this park with concrete walkways and steps leading down to the spring from an established river level.
PLEASE NOTE: Little River Springs is closed from sunrise to 11:00 am on every Tuesday for weekly maintenance.
