Hikes in Lyngen

You will find a description of how to get to Blåisvannet in summer on visit-lyngenfjord(.com) web site. If you are physically fit, have good clothes and the weather is nice, you may want to go there in winter. Early, when there is not much snow you may walk. Bring skates if you have! If you go skiing, please be careful and stay on the main path as there is a great risk of avalanches in Lyngen.

Lyngstuva is the most northernmost point of Lyngen and a nice walk in the summer and autumn, and early winter, before there is too much snow. Spectacular views of the sea and islands to the north and west. There is a large and fairly intact ship wreck just east of the lighthouse. The old cabin used by workers on the lighthouse should be open and may provide shelter for lunch if the weather is rough. Description at visit-lyngenfjord(.com) web site

Almost everytime we are at our house we do the short trip to the lighthouse. You can walk to the lighthouse from Ravika (2-3 km easy walk) or from the end of the main road on the east side (shorter walk, but you need to walk in the shoreline. Be careful, it may be slippery.) At the lighthouse there is some very interesting stone formations. We often see seals, otters and white-tailed eagles in this area. The trip is very nice in good weather, but maybe even more spectacular when the weather is rough and the waves from the ocean wash upon the cliffs. Since the path is so close to the sea it may be possible to do this hike in the winter as well.
