Great drive out to New Norfolk, approx 40 mins.
There is also is also Willow Court and the Nurses Quarters that have hours of mooching through interesting antiques, books and bric-a-brac. There are tea rooms, next to Willow court or the Glen Derwent Tea Rooms across the river.
You can return to Hobart via the other side of the river, or carry on an extra 30 mins to MT Field National park and walk up to the Falls.

Located in the Mt Field National Park behind the information centre. 25 minutes return, 1.4km return Grade 1: No bushwalking experience required. Flat even surface with no steps or steep sections. Suitable for wheelchair users who have someone to assist them. You can continue on to Horseshoe Falls and other great walking tracks but these are up stairs and the climb is quite steep but doesn't go for too long. There are seats positioned along the walk to take a break and take in the views.
