Neighborhood Dining

This is a fabulous Italian market just a few blocks from the Air BNB. You’ll be amazed by the great selection of Italian groceries and wines, but the hidden gem is at the meat counter. The selection of sandwiches can be ordered to-go or enjoyed at the store itself. The options are all superb, but stand outs include the enormous muffaletta sandwich (I dare you to try to finish an 9’’), the equally enormous prosciutto panini, and the homemade Italian sausage topped with sweet peppers and onions.

Walk just a few blocks to quality local fare with a beautiful patio. Garden Café lives up to the name as you can eat outside next to the garden where many of the vegetables from the kitchen are grown. It's been a popular neighborhood breakfast/brunch spot for years - they've just expanded and are now open for lunch/dinner. Open Thursday - Saturday 10a-10p and Sunday 10a-3pm. Take a Sunday morning stroll up for brunch. It's worth it! - It gets busy, so I'd recommend booking first on OpenTable.

Mai’s just underwent a renovation, but the menu is still an array of outstanding Vietnamese food. You’ve got plenty of options, but the classic Chicken Clay Pot is still a unbeatable choice. Open for lunch and dinner, you can get in and out without breaking the bank.

Located just across the street from Mai’s, Sakhuu has made a name for itself thanks to their stuffed chicken wings. Their curries are especially tasty and can be ordered at varying heat levels, and you can always bring in your favorite drinks because the restaurant is BYOB.

At the end of the street, this authentic spot has great Mexican food from 8 am to 8 pm. You could always order tacos but why not order the dish that they named the restaurant after?! The tortas here are massive and are less than $10 each.

The Dallas Arts District includes three distinct museums for those who love visual art. The Dallas Museum of Art has a vast collection which is free to the public and has regular special exhibits for an additional charge. The Crow Collection focuses on Asian Art and also has free admission. The Nasher Sculpture Center does require admission, but often has free days. All three have outdoor exhibits, so it’s a special treat to experience them on a beautiful Dallas weather day.
