A tranquil residential area, Cheesman Park centers on its namesake green space, with expansive lawns, shady jogging trails, a dramatic neoclassical pavilion and regular LGBT-oriented events. Just east of the park, Denver Botanic Gardens features themed areas and an amphitheater for popular summer concerts. Casual pizzerias, relaxed coffeehouses and hip craft-cocktail bars dot the streets around the park.

Great well-used 2 mile loop running track around this park. 155 acre of pleasant grounds including two lakes. Two flower gardens, one of which is a replica of George Washington's gardens at Mount Vernon. Interesting shopping and dining nearby on Old South Gaylord Street.

The theater was renamed in 1922 and became an important part of the community. The theater was also initially a movie house and went through various phases over the years. In 1994, Chris Swank and a business partner invested in the Bluebird and it re-opened as a mecca for music that you know today. The theater is laid out in tiers with a balcony overlooking the entire space.
