Max Patch is a mountain bald located along the Appalachian Trail. It has gorgeous, 360-degree, long-range views of the Appalachian Mountains. It is a nice place to bring a blanket and have a picnic or lay in the grass and enjoy the view. It is an easy 1.7 mile loop trail from the parking lot.
There is a small parking lot available at Max Patch below the bald. However, this lot fills up quickly (especially on weekends). There is parking along the road nearby, but please only park in designated areas. Max Patch is about 1 hour away.

Near the beginning of the trail is a great swinging bench beneath a beautiful shady old oak to sit and enjoy the view. Great family hike. Has porta-potty. Dogs welcome.
