Take a stroll along the River Itchen and you will soon be in beautiful countryside. Walk past the Hospital of St Cross (well worth a stop for coffee or to see the gardens if you are lucky enough to be there on a date they are open!). Continue along and up the hill - the city views from the top of the hill are always wonderful.
