Mueller
No-frills but modern Vietnamese restaurant, offering the known favorites: phos, lemongrass meat. The bahn mis, though, come in disguise: they are served in the Chinese bao bread (I, personally, like it better).

Cocktail bar
Don’t let its bare bones look fool you: this place serves some of the best cocktails in town.
The mixologists have carte blanche from the owner to create their concoctions. One of the girls even has her own brand of bitters (aptly named The Bitter Bitch)
One of the best cocktail places in town: inventive yet true to the spirits (pun intended).
The menu changes seasonally.

A Gastropub with some decent food options (enough to be a dinner destination too) and creative cocktails. They also have several Austin local drafts on tap and a reasonable list of wines by the glass.

If you want something more basic, but still delicious tacos and a decent Mexican Martini or a Jellyfish beer, you can’t go wrong with any of the Torchy’s chain places.
The one closest to our little house just also happens to be one of the nicest, with a nice patio seating

Nicky’s has expressos, and all day breakfast menu, a few pasta options, and Italian sandwiches. They makeAperol Spritz, negronis and some other quite decent European style cocktails too.
It’s a casual experience, with limited seating, but one that won’t disappoint the taste buds.

A traditional Austin institution known for well made, cute, but not over-the-top confectionery.
If you are expecting fancy patisserie dainty creations, you may be disappointed. But if you like cute cookies with whimsical decoration, and all the traditional favorite cakes, you will love this place.

They’ve started with ambitions to be a nose-to-tail place, but have toned down on the exotic pork cuts in favor of more mainstream ones.
Today, they are known for an excellent and not-so-obvious brunch experience. Also a nice place for dinner, and three blocks from our little house
