This is hands down where you need to go for a Vietnamese sub. Cash only and take out only. Line ups around the block all day long. We always order the #9, extra pork :).

The donuts are fabulous, don't get me wrong, but the fried chicken next door at Fritou is arguably the best in the city. I dare you to challenge me on this one.

They do take out and we recommend the sockeye salmon aburi oshi sushi, the deep fried angry cauliflower appy and fried brussel sprout appy. Loads to choose from on their menu and they are on the same block as Earnest Ice Cream, which is a nice one-two punch.

Local, boutique ice cream with amazing and original flavours. You can buy cones or take home your own pints for the freezer. They have dairy free options and point out which flavours have gluten in them.

This is a proper Ukrainian eatery that has a sit down menu and take out counter. We always get our perogies from here and have been known to eat quite a few of their rum cakes, babkas and medovyk honey cakes...

This would be an 8 minute drive from the house, but the bakery and pastries are worth it. So reasonably priced and open 24/7.

Summer or Winter, it's worth the tram ride up the mountain. The views of the city are wonderful. One piece of advice - if you cannot see Grouse Mountain when you're down in Vancouver, then you'll just be socked into clouds with no view. Make sure the clouds are either higher or it's a sunny day.
