Steps to enter the glacier best done early if you can, aim to avoid last train back to Chamonix in the winter as packed with skiers. Last train around 3.30pm

Gets crowded in the Summer with tourists. Consider early start. Sometimes gets so busy they operate a ticket system to get down to Chamonix in the cable cars . Has been known to be a couple of hours wait in peak times to get back down to Ground level
