Bon Appetit named Portland the 2018 Best Restaurant City of the Year. Portland is a 30-minute drive from North Windham. The restaurants, sights, museums, architecture, and more make it well worth the visit. It’s almost impossible to name all of the good restaurants, but our go-to’s and highly rated restaurants are listed here. Be sure to make reservations if applicable.

There are plenty of hiking trails in the area. Be sure to check out town preserves as well for easier options. The hikes featured here are well known trails, mostly moderate hikes with nice views. If you're willing to go even further search for Tumbledown Mountain in Byron, Table Rock or Old Speck in Grafton Notch State Park, Evans Notch in the White Mountain National Forest, Maiden's Cliff in Camden, or Cliff Trail in Harpswell.
