Sightseeing
An absolute must see if you're visiting Tasmania. We recommend you set aside a day to visit Cradle. It's 98km away but because of the windy mountain roads it takes about 1.5 hours to get there.
Note that there's no food/drink available in the park, so take a picnic or grab something from the visitor's centre.
You leave your car at the visitor centre and take a shuttle bus into the park. Be sure to hop off at RONNIE CREEK. It's the start of the Overland Track. But more importantly, you're guaranteed to see lots of WOMBATS. We always see at least 10-20 wombats every time we go there. Lookout for them, at first they look like big rocks :).
While you're there, be sure to check out Waldheim (Wilderness Home). The Weindorfer's Forest Walk is also near there and is one of our favourite walks.
Another favourite is Dove Lake Circuit. It's a lot busier though and takes several hours to do. We usually do it in 4 hours or so. But you don't need to do the whole thing - just go as far as you'd like and then turn around.

One of our favourite local waterfalls. It's a 20 minute walk down through the ferns and bush to the waterfalls. There are several tiers, so be don't stop at the first falls. There's also some picnic tables at the carpark.

We're just 5 minutes from Deloraine. It's sits on the Meander River. Deloraine has lots of great places for coffee and meals. It's also well worth your while to walk up the street and pop into the many galleries and craft centres. Brush Rabbit is my favourite shop in town. They do great coffee too.
There's a Woolworths supermarket, 2 pharmacies, a medical centre, and a museum.

There are 2 sets of caves, Marakoopa and King Solomons Caves. Both have very similar formations. I prefer Marakoopa Caves because it's a wet cave and has GLOW WORMS. Be sure to book your tour. (And don't be late, they'll start without you)
