Designed by one of the greatest NY Architects - Diller and Scofidio, The HighLine is such a great example of repurposing unused city space into a usable and amazingly designed public park- slicing right through the best parts of the city- from 34th Street all the way to the Meatpacking- I suggest starting at 34th and walk all the way to the New Whitney Museum in the Meatpacking and check that out- then walk down 11th Ave where there are some great restaurants for dinner.

Strangely I was born here !! back when it was such a dive neighborhood. - but I couldn't possibly afford living here anymore..lol. It is home to the most serious hipsters in the world ( a bit too much - I walk around these days and find it humorous how cool people try to be- especially the ones that try to look like they do not care, but they pay a fortune to look so casual and their trust funds pay for the over priced apartments here - lol) But, joking aside it is a very cool place to spend the day walking around and seeing the shops and neighborhood. explore ....

Neighborhoods
I used to Live int eh East Village back in the late 80s- when it was so dangerous they actually closed Thompkins Square Park due to all the murders there. Now it is SAFE SAFE SAFE - but it still has an interesting edge. It may be the only neighborhood in NYC that still feels like the edgy multi faceted NYC that I grew u in. I love it.
