The City of Cadillac is one city out of four in the nation that has a lake (Lake Cadillac) located completely within its corporate boundaries. It is also home to the mysterious Clam Lake Canal, which links Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell year-round, but remains unfrozen during the winter months.

Keith McKellop Walkway is a 1-mile walkway along the east shoreline of Lake Cadillac. Watch the sunset over Lake Cadillac while taking in one of many summer concerts in the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion. The walkway welcomes walking, jogging, strolling and inline skating. The Walkway is a part of a 5.5 mile trail connecting the Cadillac City park, City Boat Launch, Blackburn Skate Park, Clam River Greenway, Sound Garden, Veteran's Memorial and has public restrooms at the southeastern end and by the boat launch, with several parking areas along the route.

Big Manistee River is one of the premier rivers of Michigan, offering over 90 miles of access and varied difficulty levels, from beginner to expert paddling experiences (depending on the segment). This river is wide and smooth-flowing. Some parts have tighter navigation and fast switchbacks, which may take you a little off guard, but overall in the Cadillac region, this river is perfect for the casual paddler. With all of those switchbacks, you will quickly find many sandbars, perfect for socializing and sunbathing.

While the current varies on different stretches, the awe-inspiring beauty is a constant. Meandering through miles of National and State Forest, you can experience the undeveloped riverscape and deep river valley on a stretch of lower-gradient, mild current, or opt to go for the gusto on a more spirited stretch of river enjoying the Class I rapids for which the Pine is famous.
