Fabulous original Seattle Park- includes a 2.3 mile waterfront
paved flat loop plus several miles of well signed old Growth forest trails. Drive their or rent one of our bikes and follow the bike route; it’s only about 3 miles from the unit!
My favorite places to stop and enjoy a picnic are about 1 mile clockwise on trail at the beach looking at DT Seattle - grassy, shade, benches and plenty of space. A Hidden gem as this park is not used that much. Up top on the park there is a road (might be closed t cars still) but you can walk up their and find lovely gassy knolls to nap under large old growth trees and forest, some real hiking trails too. Look for bald eagles and check out the Audubon society building

This place is super cool in old Japantown, next to Chinatown. As featured in the NY Times bestselling book "Hotel on the Corner of Bittersweet and Sweet". The owner is neat- eccentric and runs a nice teahouse on site. She might give you a free tour of the hotel if you ask. We would be totally remiss if we did not mention Seattle's number one must-see attraction- The Pike Place Market! I know Markets- One of my first jobs was selling at London's Petticoat Lane Market- (one of the oldest continuously operating markets in the western world). Believe me when I say Pike Market is in the same league. There are so many wonderful arts, crafts, food- just about anything- a great place to spend an afternoon exploring anytime ( as its mostly covered)- even for a local! You can also take a Rideshare to the Light Rail station and catch the light rail directly to the market area. Some of my best of market spots:
First ever Starbucks shop- really...Starbucks #1.
Jack's Fish Stand- order Cioppino Seafood Soup or fish and chips- eat at the stand roughing it like a local or walk across the street to the Pike Market outdoor huge deck overlooking Elliot Bay.
Lowell's Restaurant- Three floors of water views- great drinks and food- people go nuts for this place.
DeLaurenti Food & Wine- this is the top Italian deli I have ever been too. its located near 1st Ave and Pike. Stop in for the best imported sliced meats and cheeses- samples are free- they slice them so perfectly thin its perfect for a antipasti platter for when you come back to Lakeridge Gardens! Heck why dare stop at Appetizers when they make three kinds of fresh uncooked pasta cut any style you like, pesto or marinara sauce to go and about 200 type of fresh parmesan cheese...did I mention the bread and wine selection? Its not cheap but its the best and a real treat. https://delaurenti.com/
Mee-sum Bakery- just go ahead and try and walk by without not trying one of there $3 chicken hombows or $1 potstickers to go!
And if you love good beer the Pike Brewery is right there too just down on First Ave. The owner Charles Finkel is one of the true craft beer legends/pioneers in the USA.
Lastly if you stay so long you are actually ready to eat again think French all the way... Le Pichet is located at 1933 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98101. Its the real deal- unpretentious, delicious and a great night out- reservations accepted- https://www.lepichetseattle.com/

If you are looking for another great local place to hike then this one is a must. Park at Discovery center and walk the clearly signed 2.5 mile Loop Trail for outstanding views of Puget Sound & beyond. You can also walk down to the lighthouse on a spur trail which is lovely and then back up along the bluff. This trail has several "crow's nest" style lookouts which are perennially listed ( or should be!) as "Seattle Best places to kiss".
Be sure to drive around to park to Magnolia Blvd on the other side of the park for one of the most scenic ridge top boulevards in Seattle. Also maybe before the hike check out nearby Ballard Locks while you are there. Parking on the Magnoila side is much easier and the salmon fish ladder is really cool to view. Perhaps try lunch at the hidden Maggie's Bluff cafe under the Magnolia Bridge ( or slightly more upscale) Chinook's Restaurant @ nearby Fisherman's Terminal to make a lovely half day trip!

One of the most visited spots in Seattle- for good reason! Enjoy the beautiful manicured gardens, Salmon Fish Ladder and weekend afternoon concerts ( return in 2022). Parking is tough o the north side (Ballard) of the locks- but on the other side of the ship canal (Magnolia) its normally better. This place was featured on the late, great Anthony Bourdain's "The Layover" show when he filmed in Seattle. Luckily its tucked well away from the beautiful people (and the crowds) in SE Seattle so you can get a table or order take-out, no problem. Its really great- top 3 Vietnamese in Seattle for sure. We like Short Ribs; Sour Catfish Soup; roll your own spring roll platters; lotus and beef salads; pancake appy- but anything you order you will probably like. Stay away from the $500 tamarind crab- not worth it. We Really want to order the amazing huge fried catfish & fixings platter- but you need at least 4 people to try it- let us know if your interested! in joining us to try during your visit!
