Parks & Nature

(3 mi.) This is one of our beautiful neighborhood places of interest. Nestled on the bank of Bonable Lake, with a fishing dock, shady playground and picnic area, basketball court, and a few exercise obstacles. We have a very small library with free wifi, and other neighborhood clubs and activities abound. Easy to locate 3 mi. west down the main neighborhood road, Rainbow Lakes Blvd. Ample and free parking. Yet, it's quiet and relaxed, and you may enjoy the local wildlife, and you may be the only one around. Closes at sunset. Plenty of shade and a place sit, and watch that! (No dogs, or alcoholic beverages allowed. )

Most beautiful serene private park...see pics and my review on Google. Very zen and relaxing and created with love and care by owners and many volunteers, well worth the $12 admission 19 miles away, but easy enjoyable country drive with only one traffic light the entire drive. Right next door to Devil's Den.

2.3 miles from the house. This is more of a community park rather than a experience of nature. Wonderful facilities here though to enjoy such as racquet ball / handball, tennis, basketball courts, base ball field, huge shaded playground equipment and swings, covered pavilions with grills and picnic tables, paved walking paths and places in the shade to rest, as well as, bathroom / water facility and ample parking. (No dogs, or alcoholic beverages allowed.)

Great place to launch and rent a kayak, canoe or tube from to go up river to the state park or downstream to town; However, it's crowded and the swimming area is at best waist high, so I don't recommend it for the park, but again it's the best public place to launch onto the Rainbow River from.

"The Withlacoochee State Trail (in its entirety) is a 46-mile paved rail-trail and linear Florida State Park. The trail goes through small towns, the Withlacoochee State Forest, and other natural areas. It offers a variety of recreational opportunities with parks, river, and lake views. Uses include all varieties of cycling, walking, running, in-line skating, horseback riding, and access to a few fishing spots. Food and drink is available in the small towns along the trail. For a taste of "Old Florida," visit Istachatta and Floral City."

Just 2.2mi from the homestead; and they have call in & take out. One of a very small locally owned chains with a positive reputation. I however, haven't eaten at this relatively new addition to the neighborhood and I cannot vouch for their COVID safety precautions yet, but I thought I'd let you know since it's the closest restaurant available.
