Lovely village just a mile away. Wednesdays and Saturdays see local food producers at the village hall selling breads, fish, vegetables and cheeses. The Old Quay Inn has plenty of outdoor space and is a stones throw from the grassy quayside which has beautiful views down the creek to the Carrick Roads. There's a small playpark for younger kids, a cafe nearby and easy access to the Bissoe Trail.

The busiest town in Cornwall, for good reason. A variety of brilliant beaches, board and wetsuit hire and lots of pubs and bars. Tennis courts, swimming pool, trampoline park, skate ramps, cinema and plenty of other activities can be found here. Beaches generally big enough to handle the summer surge.

Events - Covid rules permitting
Cornwall normally has a wealth of events that run through the summer. Things could be different this year but it's always worth keeping an eye out as the situation changes. There will definitely be pop-up events all over the place - Facebook is the best way to keep your finger on the pulse.

Verkehrsmittel
Parking at beaches and coast paths
Parking can be run by National Trust, local councils or private landowners. Most places now take card, but not all, so make sure you have more than £5 in loose change.
The bigger north coast beaches often have plenty of parking options but even they in the summer can fill up early. Try to get there before 10am!
The hot spots, like St Ives, Padstow, Newquay, can get very clogged up - check your sat nav for traffic info if you're thinking of heading that way.
Bräuche und Kultur
Tides and rip currents
Always swim between the yellow and red flags and if you're a beginner, surf between the black and white flags. Rip tides can kick in quickly and are very dangerous, hence the RNLI are always watching for them. This is why they move the flags around.
Most beaches are quite small at high tide, and some you can even get cut off if you're not careful, so plan your day with this in mind.
Check Newquay tide times for north coast trips and Falmouth tide times for the south coast:

Point Quay
You can safely jump off the quay 1 hour either side of high tide, and have a nice swim or paddleboard 2.5 hours either side. At low tide it's just a whole lot of mud!
