Places to eat
Bill's started here in Lewes before becoming a national chain. Has lost it's original quirkyness but still a good bet for a reasonable meal. Good for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Probably the most popular pub in Lewes (certainly mine!). Food pretty good and great atmosphere. In these post lockdown days whilst most outside tables are booking only they do have some unheated garden tables in summer too.

Probably the best pub food within Lewes itself - 10 mins walk from your room. Thoroughly recommend. Only open Wed-Sun for food.

Lovely outdoor courtyard if you can get a table in the sun on a summers day. Nice salady lunches.

Literally opposite the house. It's a chain but offers reliable, reasonably priced French bistro style meals. Easy to walk across and book!

Really good gastropub in a beautiful village a few miles out of Lewes. You can walk there in a couple of hours and get the train most of the way back (still a 30 min walk). The food is good but to be honest they are not the best for post-lockdown outdoor dining - no heaters or covers.
