Hiking Preserves
Hamilton Cove Preserve is located right down the road from our Airbnb! It has quick access to two cobble beaches and also offers a trail to two great overlooks of coastal cliffs. If you walk the trail all the way to the end you'll come out onto this great rocky spot right on the edge of the water.
Benny's Mountain is a trail across the street! Great walk through the forest and blackberry bushes in August. The overlook is small but gives you a slight view of the Lubec Downtown off in the distance.

Pike Lands Preserve is another great place to watch the sunset! There are several trail loops and the trails all emerge at the pocket shingle beach, known locally as Huckins Beach. Try not to go at high tide for best beach exploring. We often hear seals just off shore!

To get to Moose Cove at the Bog Brook Preserve you’ll need to drive down a mile-long gravel road through blueberry fields. There is a very short universally accessible trail, that is wide and open, it leads to a small scenic overview of a beach. You can hike down to the beach (no longer a universally accessible trail) and continue to walk along the shore. Going this way will eventually loop into the Chimney Trail which has great scenic coastal viewpoints and an old chimney.
The other trail at Moose Cove is the Ridge Trail, it is a little of 2-mile roundtrip and more challenging. You can climb a small rocky knoll with views of the coast or continue through the forest to eventually another rocky coast access.

The Norse Pond loop is about two and half miles. It is a large loop that has access to a rocky beach and the shore of Norse Pond. The beach, has these great unusual rock formations that can be reached at mid-tide or lower tide only. The beach also has a stream/river that often cuts the beach in half – you may need to wade in or jump over to access the cool rock formations.

The Cutler Coast Trail is very popular in this area! It is the busiest trail system in our area, especially on weekends. Consider visiting outside of peak periods or plan to arrive early to the parking lot to get a spot.
The coastal portion of the property has hiking trips from 3-10 miles. You’ll walked through a forested path for about one mile before reaching the ocean overlook. Then continue along the wooded trails, open meadows, and rocky cliffside paths to reach Fairy Head. Amazing views throughout the entire hike!

Cobscook Bay is a fanastic place to paddle! You'll see seals, birds, and beautiful rocky coastline. This area is tidal so plan your trip according. The easiest place to launch a kayak might be from Cobscook Shores' Huckins Beach property. Paddling down into the bay and round Red Point Island is a long but amazing paddle.
