Do you love the art of photography?
Then Fotografiska is a must, the centre for contemporary photography. Housed in a former industrial Art Nouveau building dating back to 1906, Fotografiska exhibits legends like Annie Leibovitz, David LaChapelle and Nick Brandt. Modern Art Museum (Moderna Muséet) is Stockholm’s modern art maverick. Its a permanent collection ranging from paintings and sculptures to photography, video art and installations. Highlights include work by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí (The Enigma of William Tell ), Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Robert Rauschenberg (Monograph , affectionately known as 'the goat in a tire') to name a few.
There are important pieces by Francis Bacon, Marcel Duchamp and Matisse, as well as their Scandinavian contemporaries, and plenty of work by not yet household names.

This is really a must!
A good-humored glorification of some dodgy calculations, Vasamuseet is the custom-built home of the massive warship Vasa.
The ship, a whopping 69m long and 48.8m tall, was the pride of the Swedish crown when it set off on its maiden voyage on August 10, 1628. Within minutes, the top-heavy vessel tipped and sank to the bottom of Saltsjön, along with most of the officers and crew on board.

This is one of my all time favorite islands in Stockholm. It is the same island where you can find the open-air zoo "Skansen" and the amusement park "Gröna Lund", but it is an absolutely beautiful island to just stroll round.
It is close to a 10 km walk if you want to walk around the whole island (by the waterfront). You can get there by boat or by tram or simply take the subway to "Östermalmstorg" and walk on the beautiful waterfront, “Strandvägen” (a nice street between beautiful architecture and all the nice boats).

Skansen is the world’s oldest open-air museum and is situated on the island of Djurgården within the city limits of Stockholm. The founder’s aims live on in the museum today. He wanted to bring the traditional rural culture to life by exhibiting furnished houses and farmsteads, cultivated plots and gardens and both domestic and wild animals. When Skansen started, its focus was on farming and Sami culture.

It is not too late to save the coral reefs. Svenskt Tenn’s surplus is, among other things, donated to the Beijer Institute’s research on essential ocean life, which is shown at this exhibition on Strandvägen 5.

It serves morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea in a beautiful room with a striking view over Nybroviken in Stockholm.

One of the most famous restaurants in Stockholm. It is a bit expensive in absolute terms but given what you get it is really value for money. I you book a table in the "gondola" you can have a romantic dinner with a splendid view of the city. The restaurant serves traditional Swedish food with some French influence.
