Carmine’s has great heated domes and patio seating! It is a 1 min walk away from the apartment.
I go there regularly just to eat their Eggplant Parmesan that is layered with Mozzarella, Arugula and drizzled with Balsamic. (It is listed under salads but it’s really more of a stack of ingredients) AMAZING!

Neighborhoods
This neighborhood has definitely more of a posh vibe. It is at times very fancy and a fun place to dress up for a night out! It is mainly high-rises and bright restaurants. It is very close to the Mag Mile so there are designer stores everywhere. It’s a great place to stay if you love window shopping, nightlife, cozy/decadent food, lights and architecture!
It’s near everything! Gold Coast is arguably the best location in Chicago. It’s nearby the Loop, Mag Mile, Michigan Ave, The Lake, Grant Park but it is equally close to Old Town, Lincoln Park and West Loop when you’re wanting something more artisan and quiet.

Old Town
Must visit! Lots of cute bars and small restaurants :)
The most beautiful neighborhood in Chicago (in my opinion). It is heavily wooded and there are stunning homes here. If you like architecture, check out all the amazing red brick homes and mansions in this neighborhood. You can google a route that will give you a self walking tour of Lincoln Parks historic and famous homes.
There is also a lot of mom and pop shops in this area and it is where the free Zoo is!
There is a great Urban Outfitters Outlet store and some famous food such as Aloha Eats and Molly’s Cupcakes.
It’s a great neighborhood to spend time walking around in. It’s simply gorgeous!

Pack for the Winter!
Always have on wool socks when you get outside (I can provide some for your stay free of charge; just ask!), wear an extra layer of pants under your pants, have gloves, earmuffs and a scarf! The winters here are cold AND windy! You’ll enjoy the city more if you’re prepared :) I’ll have some thermos in the cabinets so you can bring a hot cocoa or tea with you and stay warm!

Ways to Pay for Public Transportation
A ventra card can be purchased inside every L station for $5. And then it is $2.25 each way to ride the L and you can also use the blue ventra card for the buses. IF you don’t have one yet or don’t want to get one, you can pay for the buses and subways with Apple Pay! I recommend getting a Ventra card though because if you have a bus or line transfer, having the card will automatically save you money, letting you transfer without paying extra. There is also a 10 day pass i believe!

Museum Campus
Make sure you book before you go to The Field Museum and Shedd and others in the Museum Campus that is along Lake Shore Drive. They have restrictions and limits for the number of people allowed in due to COVID. So check before you go! And also, if you’re planning to do multiple attractions such as museums and the skydeck, get a CityPass or something equivalent so you can save money! Just google it or use Groupon to find deals :)
