Hanging Lake is a Colorado treasure and a rare example of a travertine geological formation. It is located in the heart of Glenwood Canyon in t he midst of the White River National Forest. The 1.2 mile (1.9 km) trail is steep, rigorous and rocky but rewarding. This natural national-landmark features awe-inspiring scenery and gentle waterfalls! Each season offers unique views. I especially enjoy the hike during the winter with micro-spikes.
In the summer bike through Glenwood Canyon to reach the trailhead or drive and park.

Paved bike trail follows along the Colorado river. Start at the Yampa Vapor Caves and follow the trail to the town of Dotsero. It's truly the most enjoyable way to see the beauty of the canyon. There are plenty of rest stops along the way, as well as hiking trails. Temporarily closed past No Name due to Grizzly Creek fire.
