Putnam is about half an hour away from the house and has the classic small-town New England feel. With a walkable downtown filled with shops and restaurants. It's off the beaten path a bit it's not typically super busy which is great!

There is a trail called the Fairy Trail in this park and it has a bunch of little fairy homes that have been built by people on the trail. Great little adventure for kiddos

A little bit of a drive but well worth it if you're looking for some ocean vibes... or just to pretend you're a rich victorian wife who's husband is out to sea roaming her mansion and gardens waiting for him to return .... (maybe that just how I feel when I'm there)

Mohegan Sun is one of the best Casinos I've ever been to... and we lived in Vegas for a while. Tons of games, Tons of Food, Heck there's even an adventure park for the kids.
