Food scene
Can't recommend highly enough although it does get really busy in summer so you might need to wait for food but its beautiful food and you have the river to look at and the wine to enjoy whilst you wait (and if you have kids they can be entertained crabbing on the pontoon)

Cultural interest
This is Agatha Christie's house and can be accessed by taking a small boat from the pontoon at Dittisham, across the river and then walking up to the house, its a fairly steep hill and a decent walk but well worth a visit.

Neighbourhoods
Our nearest village is Dittisham, which is nestled into the banks of the River Dart. It's a beautiful small village with lots of lovely holiday homes and an older population that expands to incorporate lots of families and visitors in the holidays but also, increasingly, year round.
It has two pubs, one of which is also the shop and post office and a stunning fish restaurant - the anchorstone cafe. You can hire boats and paddle boards and kayaks to enjoy the river from or get a boat up to Dartmouth where you can also take a steam railway journey along the river.

Great beach for surfing or kite surfing, sunbathing, walking along the coast, exploring the dunes. In the summer there's a fantastic gastrobus serving food and also an excellent pizza van...both get really busy though so be prepared to wait or bring your own picnic/BBQ.
