This place is absolutely one of the best things about Monterey. The store is operated by Gould Farm which was founded in 1913. Gould Farm is the first residential community in the nation dedicated to helping adults with mental health challenges move toward recovery, health, and greater independence through community living, meaningful work, and clinical support.
A truly special place and an experience not to be missed. Without question our favorite breakfast spot and community gathering place!
The Roadside Store & Café is a favorite of locals and visitors to the area. It was rated one of the top five restaurants in the country for breakfast by Bon Appetit Magazine. They also sell local food products including Gould Farm cheese, syrup, pancake mix, and other treats produced on the farm and locally in the Berkshires.

The Stockbridge area is blessed with a line-up of cultural attractions that rivals that of many metropolitan areas: internationally renowned summer festivals of music, theatre, and dance; major art museums and galleries, and historic homes and gardens. The spectacular Berkshire countryside that provides a backdrop for the cultural showcase is itself a destination, with numerous trails and back roads for hiking, cycling, bird watching, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Southern Berkshire's largest town is one of natural beauty, cultural wealth and historical "firsts." Combined with its convenient location, fashionable shopping district, fine restaurants and recreational opportunities, Great Barrington is and has been a favorite holiday haven for more than 100 years. Great Barrington's vibrant downtown invites a stroll along its charming tree-lined avenues. Main Street was the first in the United States to have electric lights. Railroad Street is one of the oldest streets in the country. Just past town hall you'll discover the monument commemorating the site of the first armed resistance against the British, two years before the Revolutionary War. This was also the site of the first slave being freed. Extend your stroll to include the riverwalk along the Housatonic River.

"OUR town" is located in Berkshire County on the edge of Lake Garfield. It’s surrounded by hills and dominated in the northwest my Mount Wilcox. Though it doesn’t have much in the way of shopping malls or nightlife, but it’s absolutely bursting with small town charm.
