The Catamaran is on the sand on the Bay side. Tables and chairs (with umbrellas) on the sand by the water are open to the public (mandated so the Catamaran may also provide these facilities to their paying guests) as are their food and bar services. Budget friendly if one just uses the tables and chairs. Bar and food is good but at resort prices.

Torrey Pines offers great hikes. Great views all over but the most scenic trail is the Guy Fleming Trail, which is a three-quarter of a mile loop trail.
To access there is a lower parking lot that provides access to the beach. From this parking lot, you can hike up a fairly steep trail to Guy Fleming (half a mile each way with 300-foot elevation gain). Just note that on busy days the upper lots can fill up.
