The Church of Our Lady, better known as Matthias Church looks back on an exceptionally long history and is the second best known church of Budapest. t was built in 1015, shortly after the country’s conversion to the Christian faith. It was rebuilt in gothic style in the 14th century, and was yet again renewed in the 19th century in harmony with the designs by Frigyes Schulek. Thanks to its latest reconstruction between 2006-2013, it now stands in its old glory again. The building is a great example of Central-European gothic style.

The sheer size of the square is impressive as are the buildings that are on either side. A fitting end to the long beautiful street leading to it.
The Heroes Square was constructed for the 1896 Millennium in Hungary. Arpad and his tribal leaders conquer Hungary in 896.
In the background many of the Hungarian kings are looking down at the visitors.

13 Steindl Imre u.The café in Gerbeaud House is one of the symbols of Vörösmarty Square, and probably the most widely known cafés of Budapest, also a gem among the top cafés of Europe. In 2009, Gerbeuad opened a joint in Tokyo as well, and another café in Seoul in 2014. With 150 years of experience behind its back, Gerbeaud offers classic cakes and masterpieces that also impress the profession. The interior of gold, marble and wood is reminiscent of the early 20th century golden age of Budapest. A must-see for both locals and tourists!

To visit the Downtown Market is a real gastro experience. In this sunny building after the reconstruction, several well-known names opened restaurants on the first level. On the grand floor, there are still primary producers selling fruit and vegetable mixed with cheese, and fish counter butchery and bakery. However, the main attraction is the gastro-paradise.
