Fantastic walks and masses of sandy beach for all the family. Take the steps up to the top of the peninsula for fantastic views of Brean, Weston Super-Mare and the coasts of North Devon and South Wales. Once at the top make you way to the tip of the peninsula where you will find Brean Down Fort and several pill boxes where soldiers once kept lookout during World War II. If you enjoy a hike it's 18 miles to Brean Down, up and around the peninsula and back, and well worth it on a sunny day, there's plenty of cafes overlooking the beach in Brean to break the journey up! Alternatively there's plenty of parking at Brean Down at the foot of the peninsula.

A piece of living history and a miraculous tale of a survival over 125 years ago!
The SV Nornen set out for the USA in March 1897, but a huge storm saw its sails ripped and crew needing rescuing. With conditions described as gale force and even snow falling, the men on board tried to guide the vessel as best they could until it beached between Burnham-on-Sea and Berrow.
Local people managed to rescue all crew members, even a dog.
The coastal village of Berrow is between Burnham-on-Sea and Brean, and the shipwreck is visible during low tide if you walk onto the beach from the Berrow beach parking area. It is about a 20-minute walk along the trails and across the beach.
It is not advisable to go when the tide is coming in, and the sinking sand could be treacherous when wet. But ahead of and during high tide, it’s a spectacular walk across a vast expanse of beach, and the black jagged remains of the wreck can be spotted from a fair distance away
