Food scene
Local places to eat, all within walking distance, ( except the Grosvenor Arms which is about 3 minutes in the car). There are of course very many good restaurants in the city of Chester, , but we have restricted this list to our village.
Excellent pub food in a nice environment. It is a couple of minutes in the car, but worth it in our opinion.

A small Welsh town with a lovely river.
Only a few miles from Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (and linked by the same canal).
Llangollen lies on the River Dee, the same river that runs through Farndon, it is home of the International Eisteddfod held every year in July (a folk and cultural festival that attracts competitors and visitors from all over the world).

This is a National Trust property built in 1684 and is now a Grade 1 listed building. What sets it apart from other stately homes is the way that servants were held in high regard and treated very fairly compared to many other houses. They appeared to be an integral part of family life and as such their lives were well documented (through photos, documents and verse) compared to other servants in other houses.
