I'm a vegetarian so I don't eat here but my meat-eating guests have told me it is the best BBQ they have ever had. They have live Blues Music as night so it is pretty loud.

Miles of trials in the Redwoods. Just 10 or 15 minutes from our place. You can rent mountain bikes at Epicenter Bike Shop on Aptos Creek Rd. at the entrance to the park - there are miles of bike trials in the park.

The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park
Aptos Creek RoadMiles of trials in the Redwoods. Just 10 or 15 minutes from our place. You can rent mountain bikes at Epicenter Bike Shop on Aptos Creek Rd. at the entrance to the park - there are miles of bike trials in the park.
This beach is part of a 10 mile stretch of beach: it is next to Seacliff Beach which charges an entrance fee. Rio Del Mar doesn't.

Take the 1 mile level walk through the giant virgin Redwoods: enter from Hwy 9. Very few of the virgin (never cut down) Redwoods are in Santa Cruz Co: this is the closest place to see them from Aptos. The other place is the Big Basin State Park past Boulder Creek.

There are lots of wonderful shops and restaurants in the village and a wonderful beach with Soquel Creek that forms a small Lake near the ocean on the beach. There is also a wharf you can walk on and it is the final destination of the famous "Wharf to Wharf" race held in July.
It is named Capitola because the founders back in the 1800s were hoping to make it the Capitol of California. Go figure!
