Small typical couscous from Barbès, which does not look like much, but adorable owners, couscous and bricks etc.
Excellent, between 2 and 6 euros, mint tea and coffee...
It is my canteen.
Often, there are only men sitting inside, don't be surprised and enjoy the kindness of the cooks. They will call you "my sister" or "my brother" once in there !
This place is a great example of how Barbès can seem particular at first but awesome once there !

Guide des Quartiers
Barbès is a flagship district of the cosmopolitan and socially varied 18th arrondissement.
It is at the crossroads of typical Paris from "Amélie Poulain", and African, Indian and Arab cultures.
You will cross people from every ethnicity as well as young white couples with small babies.
Several must-do addresses to visit around.
Don't be surprised, the rue de la Goutte d'Or and the Barbès subway are known for men smuggling cigarettes or giving you African sorcery leaflets...
It's part of the folklore but absolutely harmless and « discary » as my last guest said ;)
I prefer to provide this information before, as I had only one guest who made me a lot of trouble for not living in the 7th arrondissement... If you want the Champs Elysées : don’t come here. If you want typical « Brooklyn » Paris : it’s a match ! All other guests were delighted and left me very kind words.
The neighborhood is indeed popular, but it is also fast-changing, culturally rich, and trendy.
For example, it is THE district for recycled fashion, environment-friendly restaurants, etc. Perfect for curious minds.
And in the worst of the worst case, if not comfortable, be reassured that the police station is down the apartment and everywhere from Gare du Nord to Château Rouge.
I am a girl in my 30s always walking by myself at night, nothing ever happened to me. And I love this neighborhood.
