Winter activities in and around Mühlbach am Hochkönig

On 03.01.2020 the annual traditional "Perchtenlauf" takes place in Mühlbach. Perchten-runs have a very long tradition. The tradition is to expel the bad "ghosts" from winter. Pretty and ugly Perchten walk through the streets with carved wooden masks, bells and shaggy skins and chase away winter's evil spirits. Around 300 Perchten from Austria and Bavaria present their intricately carved masks. Mystic mood and goosebumps are guaranteed. The main street will be closed from 19:30 to 22:30.

A 4.5 km long natural sledging track leads from Gasthof Kopphütte right to the village of Mühlbach. You can take the bus to the stop 'Kopphütte' and from there it's about a 30 minute walk to the Kopphütte. Enjoy the fresh air and have fun while sledging! Sledge-rental at the Gasthof Kopphütte.
