Fabulous sourdough and overnight loaves, and we especially love the Portuguese custard tarts. If you can't quite make it home from the shops, they do the best coffee in town.

Saturday mornings every week, Stroud hosts the best Farmer's market in the area, it's like being at a festival, there are street musicians, the kids are playing in the streets, old friends chatting, book signings, falafels to die for, it's all here, amazing bread, olives, cheese, local produce, and if you get there early, the best portuguese pasteles de nata (custard tarts) in England.

The best tastiest, moist falafels I've ever had! They get their special soft pita breads all the way from London, and the sauces and pickles/chili/chutney/salsa are not to be missed! Complete bargain and you can also buy the cooked falafel balls themselves to take away in large quantities for home use.

My beloved University years at Oxford make me very biased towards this beautiful town! However it does have more than stunning architecture. The Ashmolean Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, Blackwells Bookshop, the crepe stall, the Covered Market, and of course for Harry Potter fans: The Bodleian Library, Christ Church College, and other famous University of Oxford buildings used in the movies.

Our favourite of all the local towns, Bristol is a brilliant place, with the harbourside, the museums, galleries and the student vibe. It's at its best on a sunny day obviously, and get there early as with everywhere in the summer!

Birthplace of Shakespeare, need we say more? For children there is the fantastic Mary Arden Farm, where the great man grew up, it is very interactive. Of course there is also the Royal Shakespeare Company offering outstanding performances on stage. It is a lovely drive up the A46.
