Probably my favourite place in London. You can get the overground train from Brentford to Waterloo and then South Bank is a short walk from there. Right by the Thames there are restaurants and often food markets and cultural events as well as the National Theatre, Tate Modern (further along), London Eye and other attractions

If you take the tube from South Ealing a few stops to South Kensington there are 3 museums all very close together - The Science Museum, The National History Museum and The Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum. They are all free so a great cheap day out.
