Cave of the Winds – In town, $23 or less
Early legends by the Apaches over a thousand years ago, tell of a cave near Manitou Springs. History books show the cave being discovered by settlers in 1881. When two brothers named George and John Pickett went exploring for new caves in the Williams Canyon area, they discovered what we now know as Cave of the Winds. As they approached the entrance, their candles flickered in the wind blowing from a nearby crevice. This signaled them to explore further, and when they crawled through the limestone archway, they discovered a large chamber unlike anything seen before. This discovery promised the Pickett brothers an amazing and dramatic new underground world to explore. Now you too can experience their adventure. Additionally, there are ziplines, rope courses and other rides suspended over a canyon that’s sure to make you scream.
