The Olive Tree is a beautifully presented bar and restaurant set in the charming village of Kirby Cane, which is less than a mile from Goose’s Place. Gale and Rafe, the owners, are lovely people and the food is exquisite Italian cuisine. We cannot recommend this place enough!

You won’t have been to a pub like this before! The driveway is a good half a mile long and is full of potholes, but it’s definitely worth it! The pub sits beside the River Waveney and serves a wonderful selection of ales and nice pub food. They also have a lot of live music and other events on at the weekends.

If you fancy a day on the river, you can hire a boat from here. There are loads of great pubs along the route the owners of the boatyard suggest, so you can be well fed and watered! As with all these types of activities, it’s best to book in advance at peak times.

Norwich is a lovely city, full of history and character, with loads of great shops, restaurants and pubs. In terms of parking, we’d suggest heading for Chapelfield (NR2 1SA) if you’re up there early. If not, and it’s getting busy, then try parking at The Forum (NR2 1TF) as whilst this is still very central, the masses opt for Chapelfield first, leaving this car park a little quieter.

Thorpeness Meare is quite a long way from Goose’s Place (around 50 minutes), but it’s totally worth it. You can hire rowing boats, canoes, even punts, and the meare itself is stunning (we’d thoroughly recommend taking a picnic and then mooring up on one of the many islands). You’re then also only a five-minute drive from Aldeburgh (IP15 5BP), and Snape Maltings (IP17 1SP) is just around the corner.

Quite literally the best farm shop (complete with tea room and loads of animals to watch and feed) in the area! All the produce is either made on the farm or locally sourced. And a hot tip: 100% buy a 'Peanutty' bar by Harris & James—they are sooooo good!
