Food
DC is an amazing place to eat. It has a booming culinary scene and there are too many excellent restaurants to name. Some of my best recommendations in the immediate neighborhood are:
Great food less than 600 ft from the house. It’s DC’s only Swiss restaurant and features killer fondue and Aperol spritz. Feels like you’re in the Alps having a meal.

Places/Things to Do
The National Mall is BIG. Walkable? Yes. But only if you have good shoes and lots of water in the summer.
The answer? We recommend Capital Segway Tours, Trolley Tours or Hop-on, hop-off bus. Great way to see everything if you’re crunched for time or are touring with mobility issues. Especially if you want to see monuments off the beaten path – Jefferson, Martin Luther King etc…
The Smithsonian’s are all great a completely free! Get to Air and Space/Natural History early to avoid huge lines.
Other museums that are a little off the beaten path (and charge a fee):
