Great sunset views with outside dining.
Please note that every once in a while low tide can make outside dining less pleasant, but it's worth taking your chances!

The Claremont has a good little spot for hamburgers and lobster rolls out back right on the water. it's a good spot for a nightcap on the way back to Mary's place.

Things To Do
We're on the "quiet side" of the island, but it's not too quiet. There's lots to do!

Acadia National Park takes up almost 2/3 of Mount Desert Island where Bar Harbor is located. There are MANY entrances to the park including mountain tops, lakes, trails, and ocean access. You can get anywhere on the island is just over 20 minutes. There is so much to see and do, it will take weeks to get to it all!

Nearest to Harbor Drive
These are the places closest to my house that are on the must see list. You can do them all in an afternoon. I suggest arriving early and taking in a trail and then either watching the sunset at Bass Harbor Lighthouse or at Thurston's Lobster Pound down the road. End one of your late nights
Folklore has it that sailors from Canada would drop off liquor shipments in this inlet during prohibition and the locals would wait for low tide.

Just down the road from me you can catch a ferry out to Cranberry Isles. It's a great (and cheap) boat trip that will get you (and your car, if you'd like) on the water and out to see some remote islands of Maine. You can explore Cranberry Shores Preserve. If you choose this beautiful option, pack a lunch and bring water. While there are stores and a restaurant on the island, there is no guarantee as to hours of operation. This is a remote island. Beautiful sites, few amenities.
