Alabama’s largest natural lake is just steps from The Lake House at Camellia Palms. Beautiful, clear water and soft sand bottom, it’s a wonderful place to swim. The lake is quite popular for relaxing and boating on the weekends.
There is a boat launch on the west side of the lake.
There are several swimming areas along the lake.
Parking has a suggested use fee ($2.00) and you can pay at several drop boxes in the park.
There is a walking/running trail that runs both east and west along the lake. If you go west from the house past the boat launch, the trail turns into a really interesting boardwalk through the marsh. If you go east, you can follow the shaded trail all the way to Florida.

How to say "Florala" like a local!
The name Florala is a combination of Florida & Alabama because our town is located on the state line. You would think it would be easy to pronounce but locals will know you're a visitor if you say "flor-ala" or "flor-all-ah" so know before you come that the pronunciation of the town's name is "flor-ella."

Grocery shop in Crestview or Andalusia!
We only have one small grocery store in Florala with limited options, so stop at the Walmart or Winn Dixie on your way in Andalusia (if you're coming from the north) or in Crestview (if you're coming from the south) at the Publix, Winn Dixie, or Walmart.
If you need a Sam's Club, Whole Foods, or Trader Joes, your closest options are in Destin and Ft. Walton Beach.

In the South, we usually give a two or three-fingered wave to a passing driver on a small street.

Pedestrians do not have the right of way in Alabama!
Main St. is a state highway and can sometimes be very busy! In Alabama, cars do not have to stop for pedestrians, so be careful when crossing Main Street if you're shopping downtown.

Don't feed the gators!
Just kidding! No alligators have been seen in Lake Jackson for several years but if you do see one, stay several hundred feet away, DO NOT feed them, and do no throw things at them.
