This National Historic Landmark is a magnificent 55-room mansion and estate built in 1902 by Henry Flagler, who founded the Florida East Coast Railway and was also one of the founders of Standard Oil Company. It was designed in the Beaux Arts style and meant to rival the extravagant mansions in Newport, Rhode Island. When it was completed in 1902, Whitehall was hailed by the New York Herald as "more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world".
Open to the public as the Flagler Museum, it features guided tours, changing exhibits, special programs and private weddings.
